Today, it is my turn to hold this guest speaking, so I have to deal with all situations by myself. If you want to have a professional and impression interview to your employee you need to pay attention on everything. Therefore today we are so honor to invite Mr. Su from Hotel Management to share his experience for us.
Teacher Su said that if you want to have a good interview the most important thing is show them your confident and how much you want to join them. In a short interview you have to give them a strong impression is very difficult so the clothes you wear the hair style you have and the make up you did will all effect your interview. However, the words you use is also important too.
Instead of just telling us the interview skills, he told us what kind of person that the company want. I think the sharing which impressed me was that he taught us with a funny way which makes us understand the importance of attitude. So today I also learned the attitude for the job is the most important thing in hospitality industry.
The name of the speaker is Nick, and he told us about how survive in our internship. He divided us into groups, and each one of the team member became speaker and the others listen to the value, facts and feelings. The speakers was given 3 minutes to talk about a topic, then, the listeners; facts, value, feelings take not on what the speakers said. The “fact” person report back on what the speaker said based the information like the amount, where, what, mostly facts. The “feelings” person report back on what the speaker is feeling, happy, excited, enthusiastic, and so on. The “value” person report back on what the speaker meant behind their words, whether their dressing to their future their past, or what they want. On the first round, the speaker talked about how much salary should be given to new employee, we heard opinions from our classmates; some said as low as 24000 some said 40000. We learnt that our opinion are based on what we want, or merely on what we think of others. If we say 24000, we may think about career growth. The giver of value and the giver of information may be different, based on our perspective. The point is, we hear people talk every day, their meanings maybe different than we what we perceived, we may think our employer has bad intentions but, maybe it’s not, we just don't know what they meant.
For internship, there are skills that we need to learn, skills like communication, leadership, teamwork, is a most professional skills and new different skills. Who knows When we are working at the front desk we might want to learn how to design. The front desk agent knows the customers best, maybe we can design the map to a restaurant?
In life, (in this case our internship life) we have to identify the people we trust, the people who can help and need help, and the job we want. Internship is a big opportunity for us to observe everything; people, life, career... Write and propose to the company if necessary, like propose one solution to improve the company.

The sharing was so informative, it is not only talking about what job provider expect from applicant but also the feeling, the good and the bad, the happiness and the sadness in the journey of working. We know in every job and company has their own uniqueness and how they leave the impression on us.
I am honored to be able to help our teacher to hold this activity, which was going, very fluent and very smooth. Even though it was not short speech, but it was very useful and very knowledgeable especially for us who have not dive to the world and soon to be.
I think we were not only received information but also knowledge and I believe we are more prepared than before now.
